Okay, then show both sides! Show how GR is not showing a correct picture of their finances. What about the way the superintendent treats the teachers and how he talks about them. How about the fact the GR hired a PR guy to paint a pretty picture of the district and cover up the things they don't want out in public--like violence in the school. Did you know that a teacher and social worker are in trouble ecause they called the police to help break up a fight after no response from the building office and district security! When 2 officers got there they waited until they had back up to break the fight up! Are you going to report that.

The district is not negotiating in good faith. What tactics are they using?

I just happened to come upon this article, thought I would read it, kind of a waste of my time really. Bash the teachers, unions, etc.

Both sides need to work towards settling the contract and get on with the education of the students. As a teacher, I just want to work with my students and not have to worry so much about things like this.

Taylor has no respect for the people that he works with. It is hard to have respect for a man like him.

The big deal is twofold: 1) they are gambling with taxpayer dollars and holding taxpayers hostage by threatening illegal strikes, just so they get to keep their cash cow money laundering operation (MESSA), the other, 2) being that this makes it clear (to those who didn't already know) that their primary interest is certainly NOT the students and quality education, but only their own pocketbooks.

Besides, we happily report the dirt from the administration of school districts, both at the local and state level. We believe in maximum transparency in public accounting and operations. We've exposed the BS numbers the school districts publish, particularly in reference to graduation rates and quality of education. We're equal opportunity.

Assuming this is accurate and in correct context, what's the big deal? School boards groom and install hand-picked board members who are insulated by administration and fail to fairly balance needs of teachers, students and the public. They reward local media who give positive coverage and punish those who expose stories about wasteful spending, poor test scores, etc. There's nothing new here, just that you don't particularly agree with the folks doing it.
